Texas Western Railroad Operations

This page is aimed at Railroad Operations as we do it on the Texas Western.  We certify that no animals were harmed, and that no environmental disasters were created which impacted on the local populace.  After all, model railroading is FUN!!

The menu bar to the left will have more links added as time progresses.  As of May 25th, 2007 this is a new page.

After a brief experimentation with one "operating" system, we realized that it did not have sufficient computer power to run a railroad empire as large as the TWRR.  A bit of investigation by some highly dedicated people (with more time on their hands than I have) lead us to the computer program ProTrak.  Below are some photos of part of the process of learning how to "operate a railroad".

After the initial ProTrak startup seen below, we held several successful operating sessions in a row.  As we did, all of us became more proficient at running the railroad.
In the meantime, several events conspired to prevent operations, and November starts the "Train Show" season, where we hold several open houses.  Then more open houses, culminating with an open house for the National Railroad Historical Society in June 2008.
But then we got started again.  Click this link :  Ops July 26, 2008  to go to a page of those pictures.
