TWMRC Club Meetings
The Texas Western Model Railroad Club meets every Thursday and Saturday night at 7:30 except for holidays.
The first Thursday of every month is the club Business Meeting.
The first Saturday of every month is Visitors Night and Open Run night.
All other Thursday and Saturday nights are either "Work" nights, "Training & Qualification" nights or "Operations" nights.
We usually run four "Operating Sessions" in a row (Thursday, Saturday, Thursday, Saturday), followed by four "Work Nights" in a row. This gives us our month.
Each operating session is a "6 hour" interval (by the 2:1 fast clock), and takes about three 'real hours' to complete. Thus, we "operate" one complete 24 hour "day" per month. At the end of each operating session trains are left in place, and the next operating session picks up where the previous one left off. Visit the Operations section for greater detail.
This allows us to 'operate' the TWRR and work on it in an orderly manner.
If you are coming in from out of town, and cannot visit on the first Saturday of the month, please contact one of our club officers to arrange a visit on some other day.
The Texas Western in General
On "Open Run" nights, if you have any era DCC equipped locomotive, it can be run on the layout. No other rolling stock standards are enforced on Run Night except good conduct and good function. Metal wheels are preferred. Kadee or Kadee compatible couplers are required.
We are currently seeking new members whose interest is railroad "operations". We are an HO scale model railroad using DCC (Digital Command Control) electronics for locomotive control. We are not a "standard" 12 volt system "Cab Control" system. We use "ProTrak" as the railroad operations program for train and car movements. If this sounds like your cup of tea, please call and make an arrangement to come by and check us out. You will be glad you did.
Soft drinks, water, and snacks are available, with a menu and costs posted.
The Texas Western Model Railroad Club does not allow smoking in the club building. Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are strictly forbidden.
Foul or abusive language or behavior will not be tolerated. Guests or members exhibiting these traits will be escorted to the door and requested to not return.
